Let battle commence: SRO Esports reveals plans for 2024 Intercontinental GT Challenge Esports

Endurance racing on Assetto Corsa Competizione takes centre stage

• Six-round series includes epic 24-hour contests at Spa and the Nordschleife

• Qualifying for Pro and Silver classes opens on 3 May

SRO Esports has unveiled exciting plans for the 2024 season, which will see the world’s leading sim racers compete for a prize pool totalling €40,000.

This year’s main event will be Intercontinental GT Challenge Endurance (IGTCE), a demanding six-round series that features Pro and Silver classes competing alongside each other. Organised by AK Esports with support from SimGrid, it utilises the unrivalled realism of Assetto Corsa Competizione developed by Kunos Simulaizoni. 

The prestigious Pro category will be contested by the esports community’s most gifted teams and drivers, with several slots reserved for manufacturer-nominated squads. Additional entries will be determined by hot lap qualifying, which is open from Friday 3 May until Monday 20 May. 

The Silver class will include talented racers who are yet to break into the top tier but are already recognised among best at community level. All places on the Silver grid will be determined by hot lap qualifying, which is also open between 3 May and 20 May.
The season will begin at the ultimate driver’s track, with a three-hour race at Suzuka running on 8 June. The 24 Hours of Spa will take place across 22/23 June, one week before the real-world CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa stages its centenary edition. It will be followed by the Indy 8 Hour (6 July) and three-hour contests at Red Bull Ring (20 July) and Monza (14 September). 

The finale promises to test competitors to their limits with a 24-hour race at the legendary Nordschleife. This has been made possible by the release of the Nürburgring Nordschleife DLC, which adds the fearsome 20.83-kilometre circuit to Assetto Corsa Competizione.

In total, the championship will comprise a marathon 65 hours of competitive action. For each event, qualifying will take place on Friday and will be followed by the race on Saturday.

Notably, the 2024 season will include a remodelled licence points system to encourage better driving standards. It will also punish those who consistently cause incidents or display unsporting behaviour with additional penalties, suspensions, and championship disqualification.
